South Park now has an outpost of one of Taiwan’s most popular beverage joints.
CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice opened last week at 11th and Hope streets, on the ground floor of a parking structure that recently saw a renovation to create 11,000 square feet of retail space. CoCo fills a roughly 1,500-square-foot spot next to The Briks restaurant, and offers an array of boba (or “bubble tea”) drinks with flavors like milk tea, winter melon, green tea, passionfruit and more. CoCo Fresh has more than 1,900 locations worldwide, but the shop at 1113 S. Hope St. is its first outpost in Downtown. Hours are 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Taiwanese tea brand Coco Fresh Tea & Juice opened a new 600-square-foot tea shop at Sky View Center, Flushing’s new 800,000-square-foot shopping mall that opened its doors last year, Onex Real Estate Partners, the developer of the mall, announced today. The shop is the company’s fourth location in New York City and its second in Flushing; it has a sister location on Flushing’s Main Street.
Ricky Wong, an agent at Super Connection, represented Coco in the deal. Onex declined to comment on the asking rents. Coco Fresh Tea & Juice opened last Thursday near the entrance of Sky View Center at the intersection of College Point Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue. “We wanted to expand our presence to another key location with significant exposure and consistent flow of foot traffic,” said Ching Fu, Lin, president of Coco Fresh Tea & Juice. National commercial tenants have been taking substantial space at Sky View. Asian supermarket Sky Foods has 36,000 square feet at the center. Five Guys Burger & Fries, Famous Footwear, Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Target and Bed Bath & Beyond also lease space in the building. Chase Bank recently signed on for 4,539 square feet, its fourth branch in downtown Flushing. The center is 80 percent leased in total. — Katherine Clarke and Lauren Elkies |
